IPPA Student Awards
The Irish Professional Photographers Association is delighted to launch the IPPA Student Photographer of the Year Awards 2012 sponsored by Conns Cameras in association with Canon. The competition is open to photography students attending degree courses at the following colleges:
- Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT)
- Dunlaoghaire Institute of Art Design & Technology (DLIADT)
- Griffith College
There will be 3 judging heats during 2011. Students can enter their work in an open category which will be judged by full members of the IPPA. Participants and tutors are welcome to attend these judging evenings and see their work receiving the same appraisal as the work of full time professional photographers.
Students who intend to enter the competition must pre-register with the IPPA. Pre-registration is free of charge. Each student will receive a PIN number from their college tutor which will be required to enter their work online.
The entry fee is €5 per image, with a maximum of 10 images per student per judging heat. Images can only be entered once. For the first judging heat students can enter up to 5 images free of charge.Payment can be made online by PayPal at time of upload.
The dates for judging heats during 2011 are as follows:

Images will be awarded Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards as determined by the panel of judges at each judging heat. Images that receive above Gold will automatically go forward to the final, end of year judging for the IPPA Student Photographer of The Year Award 2012.
The overall winner will be presented with €1000 worth of Canon products from Conns Cameras at the IPPA National Photographic Awards ceremony which will take place at The Burlington Hotel, Dublin in February 2012. The winning student will also receive 2 complimentary tickets to attend the awards ceremony and a trophy.
